Cate Blanchett’s Son Ignatius Joins Mom at Giorgio Armani Privé Show

Cate Blanchett and her 18-year-old son Ignatius Martin Upton made for a fashionable family at the Giorgio Armani Privé fall 2026 couture presentation in Paris on Tuesday.

The two-time Oscar-winning actress turned to the late designer’s fall 2025 couture collection, wearing a velvety suited look. Her black jacket was crafted with sharp shoulders and long sleeves with statement cutouts on either side of the waist, while a shimmering black belt cinched the waist.

Coordinated wide-leg trousers further emphasized the refined dark styling of Blanchett’s ensemble, while a plunging white fabric provided contrast and created a sensual neckline.

As for accessories, Blanchett opted for a pair of Louis Vuitton sunglasses and pearl earrings from the French luxury fashion house. The actress serves as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton and appeared in the maison’s high jewelry campaign in June 2022.

Blanchett’s 18-year-old son, whom she shares with husband Andrew Upton, opted for contemporary elevated edge, wearing a coordinated charcoal-tone monochrome suited look with a T-shirt and silver chainlink necklace.

The actress’ Giorgio Armani Privé suited look debuted one year ago during Paris Couture Week in July 2025, roughly two months before Giorgio Armani’s death at the age of 91. The late designer “explored myriad possibilities of black in his fall Privé couture collection, from light-absorbing velvets and glistening, lacquer-like fabrics to all manner of jet beads and other sparkly embellishments,” Miles Socha wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

“For a designer, black is the most classic of colors and, at the same time, the most demanding,” Armani said, per Socha’s WWD review. “When you work with black, you cannot afford to make mistakes: every detail must be perfect, because black reveals the very essence of a garment.”

Following the designer’s death, Armani’s niece Silvana Armani took over as the lead for womenswear. The fall 2026 couture collection focused on established design codes from jackets to pants and gowns.
