Justin Theroux welcomed his first child, a baby boy, with wife Nicole Brydon Bloom earlier this spring
The actor shared that he wore custom scrubs with his name on them during the birth to blend into the background
Theroux previously shared his excitement about fatherhood, calling it a “beautiful” experience and admitting he wants to spoil his son
Justin Theroux had a special outfit in mind for when he welcomed his baby boy.
On Thursday, July 16, the actor, 53, joined guest host Ike Barinholtz on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and spoke about welcoming his son earlier this spring with his wife, actress Nicole Brydon Bloom, 32.
“I think I was very helpful in the whole process. My wife was incredibly helpful,” joked Theroux. “She did a fair portion of it. She was great in the setup of it.”
“She’s very sort of tickety-boo about just making sure everything’s right. So we had our go bags, we had all that stuff figured out. I was more worried about what I was going to wear,” continued the new dad.
Theroux said that because he knew the day was not “about me,” he wanted to wear an outfit that would let him blend into the background.
“So I went ahead, and I Googled, and I got all these scrubs,” he shared. “There’s this company called Figs, and I made like…I had scrubs made with my name on them, and I had a little cap, you know, like Noah Wyle wears in The Pitt.”

“I just wanted to blend in,” explained Theroux. “I didn’t want to make this about me, so I wore the outfit.”
On April 18, Theroux and his wife revealed on Instagram that they welcomed their first child together — a baby boy, whose name has not been revealed.
Bloom and Theroux announced the news alongside a black-and-white photo of the new dad hugging his son to his chest as the newborn appeared to take a nap. The baby could be seen wearing a light-colored onesie under his blanket.
“He’s here 🕊️ we are so in love,” the pair captioned their joint post.
Later that same month, Theroux joined The Kelly Clarkson Show and chatted with guest host Willie Geist about his “new dad glow.”
“It’s difficult to encapsulate, obviously, in any amount of time, but I feel fantastic. It’s really beautiful,” he said. “Someone was smart enough to … remind me to remind myself when he was born to put myself in my body and recognize that moment when he came out. And you do feel like your DNA just starts flipping in a different way. The minute you lay eyes on him. It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.”
Geist then asked what type of dad Theroux pictures himself being, to which he responded he already wants to “spoil him rotten.”
“I’m going to be terrible in that I’m already wanting to spoil [him], like I want nothing more than him to sleep next to me,” he said. “I’m sure everyone who has kids has had that feeling where all I want to do is just — if he’s feeling upset, pull him into bed.”
“My wife is wanting to do sleep training, [and] we have a whole bunch of things, but I think I’m going to want to spoil him rotten,” he continued. “That’ll be the hardest thing to resist.”
