After dabbling in country music, Post Malone teases a comeback to hip-hop ahead of his FIFA World Cup appearance.
“That one mofo that don’t know when to leave…” Posty captioned a clip of him previewing new music while he drank some Bud Light and smoked his cigarette.
The snippet is reminiscent of his melodic rap tracks that rose him to stardom like “White Iverson,” “Congratulations,” “Rockstar” with 21 Savage, and “Circles.”
In the snippet, he raps, “All my money clean, not a damn stain on me/ I would pop a bean, 2016 Stoney.”
Post Malone has several projects across genres including his last hip-hop album was 2022’s Twelve Carat Toothache. His most recent albums, 2023’s Austin favored pop sonically while 2024’s F-1 Trillion, leaned more country.
The rapper revealed back in April that his new album, The Eternal Buzz, is on the way but he has not yet announced a release date.
Post Malone to headline FIFA World Cup closing ceremony
While fans await Post Malone’s new album, they will be able to hear him on stage at the FIFA World Cup final on July 19.
“At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a press release.
Alongside Posty will be joined by several other stars including Oscar-winning actor Tom Cruise, popular streamer IShowSpeed, EGOT Jennifer Hudson, Italian singer Laura Pausini, Grammy-nominated singer Nicole Scherzinger, and English singer Robbie Williams.
The opening ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. ET, 90 minutes before kickoff.
Argentina will take on Spain in the FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at the New York/New Jersey Stadium. Kickoff is set to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
