The Anchormanstar shared a photo reminiscent of the artwork on Nancy Priddy’s You’ve Come This Way Before, where mother and daughter both posed sitting cross-legged on the ground, wearing a denim shirt and jeans.
“This was a pic taken for possibly back of book. Hold please while I find the other inspo pic. It’s so cool. Also have you read or listened to YOU WITH THE SAD EYES?” Applegate captioned the Instagram post on Sunday, referring to her New York Times bestselling memoir.
After the Married…With Childrenactress wasn’t able to upload Priddy’s acid folk album cover, she quipped about being “too old” in the comments. “Ok can’t make it work. It’s my mom’s album cover called YOUVE COME THIS WAY BEFORE from 1960 something. Google it and send to me hahah.”
“Also check out ASAP ROCKY SONG WHERE HE SAMPLES ONE OF MY MOMS SONGS. also can’t seem to post anything. I am too old!!!!!,” added Applegate. Rocky had sampled “Ebony Rock” in his 2026 song “The END.”
Fans loved the book photo that never came to be. “That would have been an excellent photo for the book’s cover. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and read it multiple times,” one said, praising the memoir.
“Yes, I’ve seen it !!! Omg how cute !!! Next is your daughter to continue the legacy your mom and you have created,” another commented, giving a shout-out to her daughter Sadie.
“Before seeing this comment i thought it resembled your moms album cover!! missed seeing you here so much glad to have you back,” a third wrote about the strong genes between the mother-daughter duo.

In Applegate’s memoir, which was published in March, she details her strong relationship with Priddy, who is a retired actress herself with credits on Bewitched, The Waltons, Happy Days, and Bad Moms.
“My mom. She loved me and I knew she loved me, and I felt safe with her, always,” Applegate captioned an old photograph of her and her mom in February, which she wrote in her memoir as well. Applegate’s father, Robert Applegate, who died in 2025, and Priddy separated when she was only 5 months old.

Applegate told PEOPLE about motherhood in 2016, saying that the amount of love she has for her own daughter, Sadie Grace, is “a spiritual thing.” “I love my kid … more than I’ve ever known [is] possible,” she said. “Like, humanly possible.”
“I feel bad. There were times I didn’t treat my mom all that great,” Applegate also admitted. “I had no idea how much she loved me.”
