Children of Blood and Bone fans, it’s a major day in the kingdom of Orïsha. Yes, the first trailer is here, fuelled by Beyoncé’s “ENERGY.”
Based on Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s wildly popular 2018 fantasy novel (a BookTok favourite) the adaptation comes from The Woman King director Gina Prince-Bythewood and Black Panther production designer Hannah Beachler. And friends, it looks like we’re in for something special.
The talent here? Sublime. Thuso Mbedu leads as divîner Zélie Adebola alongside the illustrious likes of Regina King, Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Idris Elba, Tosin Cole, Amandla Stenberg, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Bukky Bakray, and many more stars. We’ll find them all in the West African-inspired fantasy kingdom of Orïsha, where divîners of the Maji like Zélie have been suppressed by the non-magic kosidáns.
