Recognized as the leading show for entry-level consumer products and appliances, with the benefits of being held in an ideal trade-show complex such as Messe Berlin, IFA 2026 will be a show not to miss. With hifi having moved on from IFA as it did from CES, the trade show now allows space for all other product categories in mainstream consumer audio to grab the spotlight they deserve. IFA Berlin has everything it needs to create a vibrant business environment. And IFA 2026 will be the show where AI-based intelligence shows its market potential in powerful categories, from toys to smart appliances.

IFA Berlin 2026 will take place September 4–8 at Messe Berlin, bringing the global home and consumer technology industry back to one of its most established international stages. For the audio industry, the 2026 edition is relevant not only as a product showcase, but as a convergence point for headphones, speakers, soundbars, home entertainment systems, streaming tools, creator workflows, smart home platforms, and B2B sourcing.

Audio is positioned to grow faster than ever in mainstream product categories, across headphones and earbuds, smart speakers, soundbars, adaptive immersive systems, streaming, podcasting, and mobility. And there are several new classes of products with mass appeal, such as personal recorders, translation/transcription, and AI assistant devices, that are looking for the media and trade channel exposure that only a truly global event such as IFA Berlin enables.

The Home of Consumer
While CES is increasingly about the overall trends in technology in general, including in major categories such as automotive, and the focus is totally on innovation and product design, IFA is an ideal stage for products that are ready to hit the shelfs and conquer the markets. Even if Asian – and particularly China’s – trade-shows offer the bigger selection of exhibitors for those sourcing for either design or manufacturing, IFA Berlin offers the strongest stage for the highly competitive mainstream consumer segments and particularly in technologies for the home and wearables.

Built around five days of launches, demonstrations, trade meetings, retail activity, media engagement, and consumer access, IFA can rightfully claim to be the world’s largest home and consumer tech show – all taking place in a single place. 2026 show areas include Smart Home, IFA Next, Content Creation, Computing & Gaming, Beauty Tech & Wellbeing, and Audio, giving the event a structure that reflects how consumer electronics categories are increasingly overlapping in real-world products and use cases.

Trade visitors at IFA are launching, sourcing, scouting, investing, creating, and learning. Berlin even provides an opportunity for exhibitors to get a sense of the market with a large number of Berlin’s sophisticated consumers flooding the show traditionally during the weekend. With tailored show areas for trade buyers, dedicated meeting spaces, a pre-show planner, live demonstrations, the Beauty Hub, Creator Hub, IFA Next, IFA Global Markets, and meeting tools through the IFA App, the organization offers a perfect environment for success. That is important because IFA is not simply a public-facing consumer electronics exhibition. It is a business platform where brands, buyers, suppliers, investors, retailers, creators, and media intersect around the next product cycle.

Audio is Everywhere
For audio industry professionals, the most direct entry point is IFA’s Audio show area. According to IFA, this area will showcase a selection of headphones, speakers, and home audio systems, with the brands that are making the strongest launches and promotions for the mainstream consumer market. Of course, there are audio products and technologies all around the show, including in some of the large size halls where the largest appliances and consumer electronics brands showcase their latest and best products. Immersive and spatial audio, wireless, smart audio integration, podcast and streaming solutions, and AI audio technology for the home and personal use, all are key areas of focus.

That broad scope reflects also how audio is now distributed across multiple product categories rather than contained in traditional hifi. Audio is increasingly embedded in TVs, gaming systems, smart displays, mobile devices, voice-controlled entertainment hubs, connected appliances, creator tools, and smart home platforms – and no other industry show promotes those at their best such as IFA.

At a show such as IFA, the audio story is more about the role sound plays across the connected consumer technology ecosystem. The Home & Entertainment area reinforces that connection, with the best in TVs and displays, smart home hubs, soundbars, home theater systems, media players, and many more.

For companies developing audio systems, this is where product categories begin to merge. A soundbar as a part of a TV ecosystem, a gaming system, a smart home control point, a streaming endpoint, and a multiroom audio network. A headset that supports music, calls, gaming, voice assistants, content creation, and mobility. A home entertainment system that combines immersive audio formats, adaptive room processing, wireless distribution, HDMI connectivity, app-based setup, and increasingly software-defined feature updates.

The increasingly important Content Creation and Creator Hub adds another layer to IFA Berlin. A place where creators can try new gear, join sessions, and connect directly with brands. For the audio industry, creator-focused technology matters because microphones, headphones, compact monitoring, wireless audio links, podcast tools, streaming interfaces, portable recorders, and AI-assisted production workflows are a strong and growing mainstream consumer technology market, even if some brands still confuse it with the professional niche.

IFA Next also matters from an audio perspective, where startups and scale-ups often bring new approaches to sensing, AI interaction, embedded processing, wearable devices, smart home control, health technology, content tools, and mobility. As it was visible in previous years, this is where many software and AI audio companies have found their first customers, and where many new companies in translation devices have made it into the mainstream space.

The Trade Show
The trade side of the show is equally significant. IFA Global Markets will run separately from September 5–7, 2026, as a dedicated B2B sourcing platform for OEM, ODM, manufacturing, components, and supply chain solutions. The format connects global suppliers with decision-makers and buyers as a trade-only event, not open to consumers.

For audio manufacturers, this sourcing layer can be as important as the visible product launches. Behind a new headphone, speaker, soundbar, or smart audio device are speaker drivers, amplifiers, wireless modules, microphones, batteries, materials, tooling, DSP platforms, firmware, test systems, manufacturing partners, and logistics. IFA Global Markets offers that part of the industry its own environment, connecting product concepts with the suppliers and manufacturing capabilities needed to bring them to market.

IFA’s trade visitor infrastructure points in the same direction. The official trade visitor page states that the IFA App enabled more than 14,500 scheduled meetings in 2025. A solid indicator of the scale of business activity surrounding the show.

The 2025 reference point also gives context for 2026. IFA reports that its 2025 edition welcomed more than 220,000 attendees from 140 countries, with more than 1,900 exhibitors from 49 countries. Those figures help explain why IFA remains a relevant venue for companies trying to reach consumers, retailers, media, creators, and international trade partners within the same event framework.

IFA 2026 should be watched less as a conventional consumer electronics show and more as a cross-category technology platform where audio appears in multiple system contexts. The most interesting developments may come from dedicated audio brands, but they may also appear from the supply chain behind them.
