Few artists can say they inspired the creation of a national television show before they were even teenagers. British singer-songwriter Amanda has enjoyed a remarkable musical journey that began in the picturesque countryside of Cumbria, England, and has taken her to some of the world’s most prestigious stages and recording studios.
From becoming the first contestant selected for the children’s edition of the iconic UK television show Stars in Their Eyesto touring sold-out arenas with Boyzone, performing alongside artists including Elton John, Westlife, Sugababes, and McFly, Amanda has built an impressive career defined by authenticity, perseverance, and exceptional songwriting. Now based in Los Angeles, she continues to collaborate with world-class producers and writers whose credits span Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Alicia Keys, and Céline Dion, while also writing music for international advertising campaigns and releasing her own original material.
Her latest single, “Rush,” produced by Grammy-winning producer Antonio Dixon, blends shimmering disco influences, lush string arrangements, and Amanda’s signature silky vocals into an infectious modern pop anthem.
In this exclusive interview with Muzique Magazine, Amanda reflects on her extraordinary career, the lessons she’s learned from performing on some of the world’s biggest stages, and why authenticity remains the driving force behind everything she creates.
When did you first discover your passion for music, and when did you know it was something you wanted to pursue professionally?
Music has always been part of my life. Growing up in the countryside of Cumbria, I spent hours listening to my parents’ record collection and dreaming that one day I’d be the voice coming through those speakers.
I first performed on stage when I was just four years old during a local village concert, and I completely fell in love with it. My sister and I would recreate Top of the Pops at home using a hairbrush as a microphone and my parents’ video camera.
Things really changed in 2002 when I auditioned for Stars in Their Eyes. I became the very first contestant selected for the children’s version of the show, and during a live broadcast Matthew Kelly revealed that my audition had actually inspired the creation of the kids’ series. That experience opened so many doors and confirmed that music was exactly where I belonged.
Your career has already included performing alongside some incredible artists. What have those experiences taught you?
Those opportunities were incredibly special.
After Stars in Their Eyes, I was fortunate enough to perform at festivals and events throughout the UK with artists including Westlife, Boyzone, Sugababes, McFly, The Hoosiers, and Elton John.
One of the biggest highlights came when Boyzone invited me to join their sold-out reunion tour across the UK and Ireland while I was recording my debut solo project. Performing night after night at venues like Wembley Arena, The O2, and Manchester’s MEN Arena in front of audiences of more than 15,000 people taught me so much about professionalism, consistency, and connecting with an audience.
Those experiences continue to influence how I approach every performance today.
Who or what has influenced your artistic style?
I’ve always loved the fashion world.
I can spend hours flipping through the pages of Vogue. You can call me old-fashioned, but I still believe there’s something incredibly special about holding a physical magazine or book in your hands. Fashion and music have always inspired one another, and I think visual storytelling naturally influences the way I approach my own artistry.
Tell us about your latest release, “Rush.” How did the idea come together?
Like most of my songs, it started with a conversation.
I wrote “Rush” about a year ago after chatting with a friend, and the idea naturally evolved from there. I love allowing songs to develop organically rather than forcing a concept.
Working with Antonio Dixon on the production was an amazing experience. He really helped bring the record to life with lush strings, uplifting energy, and a modern disco influence while allowing the emotion of the song to remain at its core.
You’ve worked with some of the biggest names in music behind the scenes as well. How has songwriting shaped your career?
Songwriting has become one of my favourite parts of what I do.
Alongside my own releases, I’ve had the opportunity to co-write award-winning songs for international artists and contribute music to advertising campaigns featuring global brands and high-profile athletes.
Every writing session teaches you something new. Collaborating with talented producers and writers pushes you creatively and reminds you that great songs often come from honest conversations and shared experiences.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and what defines your work ethic?
I’m definitely a perfectionist.
Any producer or vocal producer I’ve worked with will tell you that I’m more than happy to sing the same line 15 times if that’s what it takes to get it exactly right. I genuinely love the recording process and building records layer by layer, so I never really get tired of it.
That attention to detail can sometimes be challenging, but it’s also one of my greatest strengths because I care deeply about creating music I’m proud of.
Do you consider yourself the best at what you do?
Absolutely not.
I think one of the best things about being an artist is knowing there’s always more to learn. Music constantly evolves, and every project gives you the opportunity to grow. That mindset keeps me inspired and motivated to keep improving.
What can fans expect from you over the coming months?
I’m continuing to create.
I’m currently writing music for some exciting advertising campaigns while also working on my next EP. It’s a really exciting period creatively, and I’m looking forward to sharing new music very soon.
What advice would you give aspiring artists hoping to build a career in music?
Keep going.
It sounds like a cliché—and maybe it is—but it’s true.
There will always be challenges, setbacks, and moments where you question yourself. The important thing is to keep creating, keep learning, and keep believing in your own voice. Persistence often becomes the difference between giving up and achieving something incredible.
