Four years ago, when the Tennessee Titans traded A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles during the first round of the NFL Draft, Mike Vrabel was visibly frustrated. Now, A.J. and Vrabel are reunited with the New England Patriots. The Patriots acquired the veteran receiver from the Eagles for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick today. This deal has been rumored for quite a few weeks.
Brown went over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his four seasons in Philadelphia. He gives Drake Maye the number one receiver that he was lacking in New England.
On the Titans’ side of things, the trade was the final nail in Jon Robinson’s coffin as the general manager. He used the pick he acquired from the Eagles to draft Treylon Burks, who was a disaster. They haven’t had a number one receiver since they traded A.J.
Hopefully, that changes this season with Carnell Tate, who has been very impressive in OTAs to this point.
