Acclaimed young theatre actress Aditi Mukherjee died on Monday November 17 following a horror car smash. It was reported the taxi bike she was travelling on was hit by a speeding truck. She was critically injured sustaining a head injury and although she was immediately admitted to Sharda Hospital she could not be saved with doctors pronouncing her dead on arrival. She had been en route to a perform in a theatre programme in Gautam Buddha University when the incident occured.
The news was confirmed by popular theatre director Arvind Gaur on Facebook in a lengthy posty in which he blamed the helmet the driver had supplied with for her death. He shared pictures of Aditi and penned, “Aditi Mukherjee, a former student of Asmita Theatre, is no more with us. She was seriously injured in a road accident on the Greater Noida Highway near Pari Chowk yesterday. She was traveling to a play on an app-operated Uber bike. In the accident, she suffered a severe cut on her forehead, which was bleeding profusely.
“She was immediately rushed to Sharda Hospital in Greater Noida, but Aditi died before treatment could begin due to severe head injuries and heavy bleeding. The police have yet to fully investigate the cause of the accident. It is hoped that they will soon determine the cause and bring the culprit to justice, ensuring justice for Aditi’s family,” he continued.
“Aditi’s parents reached Delhi from Orissa late last night. Aditi was staying in Mahipalpur with her brother. Today her postmortem was done in Noida, followed by the funeral of Aditi’s earthly body at the crematorium located in Sector-92.
“Aditi was a talented, energetic and enthusiastic actress. She was active actress of Asmita Theatre 2022 batch. These days she was acting in Ashutosh Rana and Rahul Bhuchar’s drama Hamare Ram. This is a very painful event for all of us.
“A young, life filled with possibilities in a road accident due to the cheap and unsafe helmet of an app-powered biker.
Unsafe helmets like lightweight, cheap and plastic caps should be banned immediately for all two-wheeler vehicles, especially app-powered bikers,” he fumed.
Another director Vipin Kumar paid tribute on Instagram. Posting a cast photo which included Aditi he wrote: “I’m shocked and saddened to learn about the sudden death of Aditi Mukherjee, an actress who worked with me in ‘The Jallianwala Bagh Files. And On duty Sir, Both are my directorial work . Yesterday She was on her way to a show when the tragic accident occurred. May she rest in peace.”
Further tributes flooded in for the star as the news became public: “May God give peace to the departed soul and solace to the family,” one wrote. “A very tragic accident. A budding actress was taken away prematurely by fate,” another added.
A third chimed in: “Heartfelt condolences. May God grant peace to Aditi ji’s soul and grant her a place in His feet. Om Shanti.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “The news of the young artist’s untimely passing is deeply saddening. Undoubtedly, the lack of safety standards by Rapido drivers is concerning. Humble condolences. May God give the family the strength to bear this loss. Om Shanti.”
