Producer Bhushan Kumar reacted to the cameos of actors Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty and Sudesh Berry in the end credits scene of Border 2. He mentioned that Akshaye’s appearance wasn’t added to milk the euphoria post Dhurandhar.
The T-Series chairperson, in an interview with News 18, said, “You can’t make a film like that. It was already scripted. In fact, we shot his portion after Dhurandhar was released. The hysteria of the film and Akshaye was already there but we never thought of [profiting from] it. It was never required in the script. It’s not like we added him after Dhurandhar was released.”
He emphasised that none of the cameos were included from a business and marketing perspective. “The same can be said for Suniel Shetty. It’s not like we decided to bring them in and seeded them in the script later. They were always supposed to be a part of Border 2 as cameo appearances. I would like to urge everyone to not miss the end credits of the film. That scene featuring the cameos is very emotional,” Bhushan added.
In the end credits scene of Border 2, Akshaye, Suniel and Sudesh’s characters appear before Sunny Deol’s Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler as Mitti Ke Bete plays in the background. Sunny is seen paying respects to their spirits.
Border 2 also featured actors Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh and others in pivotal characters. The film is based on India’s triple-front response to Pakistan’s Operation Changez Khan in the 1971 war.
India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, “In an age obsessed with influencers and celebrity culture, films like Border 2 remind us who the real heroes are. The makers have given a cinematic experience to the story that newer audiences are likely to appreciate. The 90s generation may feel a twinge of loss, but Border 2 stands as a respectful (even if polished) salute to sacrifice and service. Just maybe, if only, they could have called it something else.”
Border 2 theatrically released on January 23, 2026.
