Taylor Swift is known to drop hints about her music for her ever-loving fans, leaving them to delve deep so that they can uncover the true meanings of her songs
The intricate meanings and hints behind Taylor Swift’s new Opalite song have been revealed.
This week, Taylor Swift announced her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will include 12 songs, including Opalite. She made the announcement on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, in which she revealed the art and all the meanings behind the album.
However, since the news broke, fans have been eagerly searching for the meaning of Opalite. But eagle-eyed fans will know that Taylor has a very strong connection to opals, so it’s no surprise she’s chosen this gem for one of her song titles. So, what are the supposed meanings and hints behind Opalite? Let’s see.

Firstly, Taylor owns a pear-shaped opal pendant, and was first seen wearing it around the time she started dating boyfriend Travis. The Love Story singer was first spotted wearing Foundrae’s Forever & Always a Pair pendant in September 2023, which is made of 18k gold.
A few months later, Taylor was seen wearing another opal piece, a stunning pear-shaped opal ring surrounded by blue topaz. She wore this whilst celebrating her birthday in New York City in December 2023.
The 35-year-old superstar’s birthstone is topaz, whilst Travis’ is an opal, so many thought it had sentimental value, however, it turned out to be a thoughtful gift from her friend Keleigh Sperry. A happy coincidence, maybe?
Moving on swiftly to 2025, Taylor was seen with another opal piece, this time in June. She wore another Foundrae piece, a heart-shaped opal charm that hangs on a chain necklace. The piece is meant to symbolize “true love that binds the heart forever,” a significant link to her boyfriend’s October birthstone and her relationship.
Tobias Kormind, Managing Director of 77 Diamonds, has commented on the connection between Travis and the gem, saying, “Her songs often mirror key moments in her life, and ‘Opalite’ appears to draw directly from her personal experiences, as well as the love she shares with her Libra boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
“With engagement rumors swirling, could opals make their way into Swift’s future engagement ring? Given the gemstone’s symbolism and its deep connection to both her and Kelce, it seems likely she’ll receive a ring that’s as unique and meaningful as their relationship.”
So, maybe Opalite is about Travis, but I suppose we’ll have to wait until October 3 to find out.
