
Amanda Seyfried opens up on mental health struggle amid ‘The Housemaid’ success
Amanda Seyfried has laid the details of her mental health struggle bare in a new interview.
The actress is currently enjoying the global success of The Housemaid which has been renewed for a sequel.
Interestingly, in the movie Amanda’s performance as Nina Winchester is also portrayed as a troubled rich woman who takes medication for her mental wellbeing while people around her stigmatise her.
However, in reality Amanda is open about her struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder, also known as OCD.
The Mean Girls star revealed that she has been taking medicine for the struggle since she was 19.
Amanda told Vogue “I was living in Marina del Rey at the time, shooting Big Love and my mom had to take a sabbatical from work in Pennsylvania to live with me for a month.”
It was during this time period when she underwent brain scans and began medication.
The 40-year-old takes medication for it every night and as per her, it was the major driving force in her decision making, avoiding late nights, alcohol, or drugs.
