‘America’s Got Talent’s LightWire Talk the ‘Huge Validation’ It Is to Be Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer (Exclusive) originally appeared on Parade.
When America’s Got Talent opened its doors to acts from around the world rather than just the U.S., it introduced the judges and the TV audience to a level and variety of talent that hadn’t been seen previously.
For Season 20, one exceptional act, becoming Simon Cowell’s first Golden Buzzer of the season, was LightWire from São Paulo, Brazil. The veteran judge even called it “one of the most beautiful and stunning acts he’s ever seen.”
LightWire is an LED trailblazing dance group that lit up the stage for its audition with a spectacular blend of art, technology and emotion. Co-founded by two brothers, Daniel and Felipe de Almeida, with a shared dream, LightWire transforms the stage into a glowing canvas, using choreography and cutting-edge visuals to bring themes like the Amazon jungle to life.

Read on to find out what a spokesperson for the group had to say about their AGT audition appearance, their plans for the Live Show, and their creative process.
Your audition featured the Amazon Jungle. Talk about its importance to you that you made it your centerpiece.
The Amazon is not just a global symbol of natural beauty and biodiversity. It’s also deeply personal to us, especially when we have the opportunity to be on a global stage like AGT. As a Brazilian group, we see the forest as part of our national identity. It’s a place full of magic, myths, and endless artistic inspiration. We wanted to bring this natural inspiration into something as technological as our performances, to reinforce that no matter how advanced technology becomes, art remains something organic and deeply human. So making the Amazon the centerpiece of our act was our way of celebrating its grandeur while also drawing attention to nature’s vulnerability and the urgent need for preservation.

What are you planning for your next show to outdo your audition?
That’s a question we can’t reveal too much about, because we want to surprise the judges and the AGT audience once again. But we can say this: We’re going to take things even further in terms of technical, technological, and artistic quality, all within an even more powerful narrative.
What does it mean to get a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell, who called it “one of the most beautiful, stunning acts”?
It was surreal. We know how high the standards are on AGT and how professional the acts are. So receiving that kind of recognition, especially with a show that was completely new to the audience, filled us with pride and gave us even more motivation (and nerves!) to continue on the show. Simon is known for his tough standards and critical eye, so getting the Golden Buzzer from him was a huge validation. It wasn’t just recognition. It reflected years of passion, research and artistic dedication. That moment was truly a turning point for us.

LightWire was founded by two brothers. Tell me about them and how they came up with the idea to combine art, projection, and movement. Do they each have a different specialty?
Yes! We are two brothers with complementary talents, one more focused on the artistic side, and the other a tech expert. The idea came as we were exploring ways to stand out in the corporate events market by creating a new kind of stage language to deliver brand messages. At first, the focus was more on marketing than on art. But over time, what we offered companies became increasingly artistic, and the desire to create something for the entertainment world became part of our DNA.
How does your creation process work? What comes first when developing a new show?
It all starts with a concept or an emotion we want to express. From there, we build a narrative arc and define the key visual moments. Choreography and technology evolve together, with our dancers and designers working side by side, testing how light interacts with movement in real time. It’s an experimental, fully collaborative and interactive process, where storytelling always leads the way.
How big is the company now?
We’ve grown a lot in recent years. What started as a small performance group is now a full-scale production company. We have our own headquarters in the metropolitan area of São Paulo, with a large space that includes a rehearsal studio, technology lab, and dedicated areas for artistic creation, development, and experimentation. It’s where all our performances are born, from the first idea to the final execution.
Where else have you done performances?
We’ve performed in many cities across Brazil, mostly at corporate events. For now, AGT has been our first international appearance—and definitely our most important performance to date.

Tell me something good that’s happened for the company since you’ve been on AGT.
The visibility has opened many doors. We’ve been contacted by companies from all over the world who are interested in our work. But the best part has been the recognition and love we’ve received from people through social media—we can now say we have a global fan community.
If you win the $1 million prize, is that something that you would reinvest in the company? Or would you do something fun?
Honestly? Both. But there’s one important detail: while a good part of the prize would go into technology, expanding our infrastructure, and developing new productions, the majority of it would be distributed among the entire team involved in the project.
America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.
