Amy Poehler won her second Golden Globe Sunday night, but in a brand new category.
The actress-comedian took home the award in the show’s inaugural “Best Podcast” category for her project entitled, “Good Hang with Amy Poehler.”
Rapper Snoop Dog presented the first-ever award at the 83rd Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, California on Jan. 11.
“This is exactly how I pictured it, Snoop giving me the award,” Poehler said during her acceptance speech.
“I don’t know about award shows, but when they get it right it makes sense,” she quipped. “Thank you so much for this.”
Poehler’s podcast was recognized alongside “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard,” “Call Her Daddy” hosted by Alex Cooper, “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” “Up First from NPR” and “SmartLess” hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett — the latter of whom is Poehler’s ex-husband.
Poehler, who was born in Newton and grew up in Burlington, launched “Good Hang with Amy Poehler” in March 2025. During her speech, she acknowledged that she is “new to this game” and has “great respect for this form” and her fellow nominees.
“I’m big fans of all of you, except for NPR,” Poehler joked. “Just a bunch of celebs phoning it in. So try harder.”
Released weekly, each episode of “Good Hang” features a celebrity interview where they “share stories about their careers, mutual friends, shared enthusiasms, and most importantly, what’s been making them laugh,” the podcast’s description states.
“This is an attempt to try to make a very rough and unkind world filled with a little bit more love and laughter, and laughing with people, not at them,” Poehler said during her speech. “We just have such a good time making it, and thank you so much for letting us make more.”
The entertainer concluded her speech by saying, “Mom and dad, you can watch the Patriots now. Thank you. Good night.”
Poehler was previously nominated for three Golden Globes for her role as Leslie Knope on the NBC mockumentary series “Parks and Recreation” in the “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy” category. After two nominations for the 2012 and 2013 ceremonies, Poehler won the award in 2014.
