Ananya Panday has come under social media scrutiny after a dance sequence from her newly released film Chand Mera Dil began circulating widely online. The clip features the actress performing a choreography that blends contemporary movements with elements inspired by the classical Bharatanatyam dance form while dressed in traditional attire.

However, Ananya Panday’s performance has sparked divided reactions across platforms, with a section of viewers heavily criticising the sequence. Several users described the choreography and execution as “robotic,” while others felt the fusion approach failed to do justice to the classical dance style.

A sequence from Vivek Soni’s Chand Mera Dil has become the latest subject of online debate after a clip featuring Ananya Panday performing a Bharatanatyam-inspired fusion routine went viral across social media platforms.

In the scene, Ananya’s character Chandni is seen dancing on stage during a college event, blending contemporary choreography with elements of the classical Bharatanatyam form, while Lakshya’s character watches her admiringly from the audience.

However, the clip has drawn a wave of criticism online, with many users expressing disappointment over the choreography and execution. Several social media users particularly took issue with what they described as stiff or ‘robotic’ movements during the performance.

One user commented, “Ananya, Bharatanatyam survived 2000 years of history. It didn’t survive for you to butcher it. Stick to ramps and leave sacred arts for those who actually train.”

Another user commented, “And then they say the audience disappointed them. One step ahead, they blame the trolls and general public for their comments!”

One user reacted, “Idk what’s the context behind this scene but man, not the first time that Bollywood ruined the representation of South.”
