Meet Anya Sesay, the Journal Sentinel’s new arts and culture reporter
Why would Anya Sesay leave the warmth of Florida to write about Milwaukee’s art scene? It’s simple. She loves art.
The new anchor of “Milwaukee Tonight,” the news and entertainment program of WTMJ-TV (Channel 4), is no stranger to the show, station or community.
Andrea Williams has been named the permanent anchor of the show, the station announced in a news release on Feb. 6.
Williams had been serving as the interim anchor since Shannon Sims left WTMJ-TV in November. Williams has worked at WTMJ-TV since May 2022 when she was hired as a specialty reporter, where she highlighted people in the community “whose stories often go untold,” the station said.
Williams has been a Milwaukee media fixture for years after moving here in the 1990s.
Prior to her start at WTMJ-TV, Williams was a radio personality. Williams spent 20 years at Jammin’ 98.3, where she was also the news/public affairs director for the Milwaukee Radio Group. She got her start in Milwaukee at WKKV-FM, V100.7.
Williams has also hosted and executive produced “Our Issues Milwaukee” and “Connect MKE” on Milwaukee’s CW 18 and My 24.
Milwaukee Bucks fans are also familiar with Williams. She was the team’s original in-arena host and also previously was a Bucks Energee! dancer.
It will be a couple weeks, though, before viewers see “Milwaukee Tonight.” The 2026 Winter Olympics will keep the show off until Feb. 23.
“Milwaukee Tonight,” which launched in 2021, is a half-hour show following WTMJ-TV’s 6 p.m. newscast.
