And no, it’s not just to spite him. Instead, it is probably for a very clever reason.
I think King Charles gave Andrew Marsh Farm for one simple reason. Out of sight, out of mind.
He can live a quiet, probably isolated, life away from the royals, yet still in the protection of the King’s private estate. What isn’t there to like?
While this is a plus for the Royal Family, surely it can be seen as a plus for Andrew, too. He gets a decent-sized farmhouse, with outdoor space, security systems, and, rumour has it, stables too.
It will be like his life in Windsor, only smaller, quieter and less grand. And after all the public criticism, this could be what Andrew needs and maybe even wants.
Although Andrew denies all accusations against him, scandals he has been caught up in surrounding his past friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein have not – and will not – disappear overnight. So maybe a quiet home, in a quiet village, is what he needs.
After all, he is no longer a Duke or a Prince, so he has to get used to no longer living like one.
