While talking to Variety about It: Welcome to Derry, Andy Muschietti made a quick remark about his upcoming Batman film. However, the only thing he confirmed about the upcoming picture was that he would update fans in a few months. Although this makes relative since considering the secretive nature that surrounds modern filmmaking, it has been slightly frustrating for fans. The film was originally announced back in 2023, and fans have had little to know new information concerning the film since then. Andy Muschietti has assured fans that he will be able to update fans soon, but it could be too little too late.
“We have to wait a few, a couple of months to start talking about it,” Muschietti told Variety.
Even though there was already an animated show titled Batman: The Brave and the Bold, there is likely no relation between the two other than the name. Yet, many fans do believe the upcoming Batman film will contain a considerably lighter tone than demonstrated by Ben Affleck’s take on the Dark Knight. This is demonstrated by many of the promotional materials for the film using Batman’s blue and grey suit. That said, it could just be that Andy Muschietti is a fan of the costume since the color scheme was prominently featured in The Flash, which Muschietti also directed.
Muscietti’s involvement in the film has already generated an air of controversy and caution around the film. Flash was by no means well-received and was largely considered the final nail in the coffin for Zack Snyder’s DCEU. The film was created after Snyder had announced his departure from DC, but many assumed the universe would at least have a sound send-off. Nevertheless, the director’s continued involvement has caused many to worry about the future of the Caped Crusader. That said, Andy Muschietti is also an accomplished horror director, which could lend itself well to the DC staple.
Unfortunately, all Muscietti has had to say about the film recently is that an update will be coming in months. That is a relatively long time for fans to go without any news on what many consider to be one of the largest staples in DC. Although there is a sequel to Matt Reeves’ Batman film planned for 2027, it is not tied to the actual DCU. At this point, fans are desperate for any tidbits of information they can get on the mainline version of the DCU Batman.
In the end, the only news concerning Batman: The Brave and the Bold is that there is no news. Muschietti promises that fans will have an update within a few months, but that might be too long to wait. Nevertheless, considering the amount of time and effort that went into Superman, their patience will most likely be rewarded exponentially.
