Anna Delvey wanted to set the record straight on backlash she has been receiving.
The Dancing with the Star alum posed alongside two bunnies that were on pink leashes in the street of New York City. Vegan influencer Terry Chao called out Anna after she realized that the two rabbits she rescued from Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York were the same ones the “fake heiress” had in Jasper Soloff’s photographs.
Terry saw a post in a local Facebook group about a lost rabbit in the area that happened to also look like the one in Anna’s photoshoot.
Anna posted the photos from the photoshoot on her account and said she had been recieving death threats. She claimed to have had nothing to do with the logistics of the photoshoot.
She wrote on her Insatagram, “I am deeply alarmed by the death threats and hundreds of vile, harassing messages flooding my social media.”
Terry shared alleged screenshots from a text exchange that suggest Christian Batty ditched the rabbits in the park.
She said in an Instagram statement that Christian had reached out to her before the photoshoot to scout for bunnies and asked her to bring the bunny to the Financial District in New York for a photoshoot.
In a since-deleted post on Batty’s alleged Instagram viewed by PEOPLE, Christian apologized, writing “When I realized the rabbits were being surrendered to me, I panicked. At 19, with no experience caring for animals, no pet-friendly housing, and no knowledge of available resources, I felt overwhelmed and made the worst possible choice. Believing, mistakenly, that there were existing rabbits in that area, I released them there, thinking that was my best option.”

Anna reposted the post and also made it clear that she had nothing to do with the planning of the photoshoot.
She shared a statement to her Instagram Story about the situation and wrote, “As many of you are aware, I recently did a shoot with Jasper Soloff involving live rabbits. Christian Batty, a member of the hair team I briefly met during a fashion week event last year, responded that he knew someone who could lend us bunnies for a few hours.”
“I later discovered that, instead of borrowing animals from a legitimate source like he claimed, he had obtained them via Facebook Marketplace and intended to release them into Prospect Park, a plan of which I had no knowledge. The idea that someone would compromise the well-being of innocent animals for personal networking opportunities is deeply disturbing to me.”
She explained how as talent, it is not her job to “source or return animals, but as an animal lover” she promised that she would “never work with them again without knowing exactly where they came from and how they’re getting home.”
