KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a much-needed victory on Sunday afternoon – a walk-off win at Yankee Stadium, courtesy of Aaron Judge’s two-run homer – the Yankees have traveled 1,000 miles for a Memorial Day game.
It’s the opener of a three-game series against the so-far disappointing Kansas City Royals, kicking off a six-game road trip that also takes the Yanks to Sacramento, for a set against the Athletics.
Ryan McMahon is not starting; Jose Caballero is at third base today for the Yanks, with Anthony Volpe at shortstop and J.C. Escarra catching.
Monday’s 3:40 p.m. (EDT) start has Yankees’ right-hander Will Warren (6-1, 3.61 ERA) going against Royals’ veteran righty Michael Wacha (4-2, 4.70 ERA).
