Banderas will receive Torino’s Stella della Mole Award on Nov. 29 during the opening ceremony of the Italian event dedicated to indie cinema. As previously announced, the fest is set to kick off with David Freyne’s afterlife rom-com “Eternity.”
In Turin, Banderas will subsequently present a special screening of “Pain and Glory” in which he stars as Almodóvar’s alter-ego of sorts playing a director reflecting on his life and career. “Pain and Glory” earned Banderas the best actor award at Cannes Film Festival as well as Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.
Torino is celebrating Banderas for his longstanding collaboration with Almodóvar, which also comprises “Labyrinth of Passion” (1982), “Matador” (1986), “Law of Desire…
