Celebrities, like anyone, know it’s a Texas rite of passage to grab Tex-Mex food and indulge in some of the region’s best barbecue when visiting the Lone Star State. Ariana Grande can now say she’s done at least one of those things while in town for her shows this week in Central Texas.
The popstar surprised guests dining at De Nada Cantina, a popular Tex-Mex spot in Austin known for serving some of the city’s strongest margaritas. Grande was spotted inside the restaurant posing for photos with fans, which quickly went viral online.
The “thank u, next” singer is currently in Austin this week for her three-night run of shows at the Moody Center on her Eternal Sunshine tour. Her first show was Wednesday, June 24 and her next two are on Friday, June 26 (Grande’s birthday) and Saturday, June 27.
In addition to her concerts, Grande is also having a week-long pop-up in Austin located at 800 N. Congress Ave, where her fans can purchase exclusive tour merchandise including T-shirts, vinyls, keychains and more.
While it’s unclear what the Wicked star may have ordered at De Nada, her fans confirmed her presence at the restaurant in various social media posts and videos. Austin influencer @gtg.pat posted several selfies on Instagram of himself alongside Grande, while other fans shared their photos with Grande in the comments of TikTok user @fordsanders’ video, explaining the intensity of a De Nada margarita.
Founded in 2021 by 2 Dine 4 Hospitality, De Nada Cantina is a trendy Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin best known for its strong margaritas served in hot pink take-home cups, limited to two per customer. The restaurant operates two locations in East Austin on Cesar Chavez (the original) and its new South First outpost, which opened in February.
