As future stadium decision awaits, Royals say they want feedback for future of club on and off field

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Royals are once again soliciting opinions from fans.

On Monday, the organization announced that it’s seeking feedback on several on and off-field aspects of the club.

“Starting today, (the Royals) will ask fans for feedback on the team, gameday experience, television broadcasts and the club’s next home,” the Royals shared. “This is part of an ongoing conversation with fans aimed at optimizing their experiences in and out of the ballpark.”

The Royals said fans will be sent a survey that includes potential sites for a new ballpark and surrounding development in “downtown/near downtown, Clay County/North Kansas City and Johnson County/Overland Park.”

“We are constantly engaging with and listening to our fans,” said Royals owner John Sherman. “Their feedback is a crucial part of how we present our games in person or through television and other media. Their voices will also play an important and meaningful role as we determine where we play games for the next 50 years.

“We’re grateful for their support and help.”

The Royals stadium situation remains undecided after voters in Jackson County shot down a proposal to extend the 3/8-cent sales tax in April and approve a stadium in the Crossroads.

In October, North Kansas City Mayor Jesse Smith said conversations continued between the club and city about a ballpark north of the river.

The announcement from the Royals also comes as the baseball calendar dictates which players are becoming free agents. The list of Royals heading for free agency this offseason includes Adam Frazier, Mike Yastrzemski, Luke Maile, Hunter Harvey and Randal Grichuk.

A Royals spokesperson said the survey is being emailed out to season-ticket holders and some other fans, based in part on how many games they’ve attended. The spokesperson said the survey does not impact the timeline of a stadium decision for the Royals.
