Ashley Tisdale‘s toxic mama drama is getting the television treatment.
Deadline reported on Thursday, July 2, that a comedy series about the mom group discourse that captivated the internet — after the High School Musical alum’s candid essay for The Cut went viral earlier this year — is in the works at Netflix.
According to the outlet, the 41-year-old mother of two is expected to star in the project, which will be written by Sabrina Jalees. Ali Wong may direct if the comedy gets greenlit to series.
Tisdale, Jalees and Wong will all executive produce the project, which is inspired by Tisdale’s real-life experiences and centers on a new mom who finds herself entangled with a group of wealthy (but likely toxic) moms.

The Disney Channel alum — who shares daughters Jupiter, 5, and Emerson, 1, with husband Christopher French — got completely candid in her now-viral essay titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group” for The Cut, which was published on January 1.
While Tisdale did not name-drop the people in her mom group, it is believed she could be referring to the celebrity clique that includes Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor, among others. They have all been photographed together on multiple occasions, and it appears that Tisdale no longer follows Moore and Duff on social media.
In Tisdale’s Cut essay, she prefaced, “To be clear, I have never considered the moms to be bad people. (Maybe one.)”
The actress also claimed she was being slowly phased out of the group by mysteriously being left out of group hangs.
At one point, Tisdale said she texted the group chat, “This is too high school for me and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.”
According to the Frenshe founder, “It didn’t exactly go over well.”
