Ashton Kutcher, 47, known for some pretty big business deals, revealed that his upcoming sci-fi show, The Beauty, might not be so fictitious, after all.
The Ryan Murphy series is based off of a graphic novel and explores the concept of a drug that can cause the administered-individual to experience a beautiful, youthful reaction. However, the twist is that the user will explode 850 days later. Ashton plays the villain of the story who is a “tech bro” hell-bent on squeezing revenue out of the nefarious product.
During a panel at New York Comic Con, Ryan confessed Ashton, who has rarely been breaking cover in recent months, was his first call with the idea for the show. Immediately, Ashton thought, “Oh, wow. There are people that are trying to do this.”
He dove further into a breakdown of the cosmetic and health industries, including the current effects of GLP-1s, such as Ozempic, from a business standpoint. “It will be a multi-trillion dollar market, and there are a couple of companies … There is a company that is being built to do this right now that has billions of funding, and, in fact, is actually being funded by some of the world’s most wealthy humans.”
Ashton didn’t point fingers at any specific stars nor name a company in particular. However, Ryan didn’t shy away from some shade.
“We all know who has done work,” he told the audience who responded with laughter. He added, “This is the premise of our show: If a bunch of incredibly powerful billionaires get together for a powwow and use a lot of money to create a Fountain of Youth drug that only they get.”
While Ashton didn’t dish on which real-life company was looking to develop a The Beauty–esque drug, he did claim there are companies working on genetically modifying babies.
The That ’70s Show actor said, “There are some people that are building companies that are, like, genetically modifying babies, like pre birth, to make them the optimal versions of themselves. And those super baby companies already exist, and a lot of them are being built right now for, like, variable genetic effects, like sickle cell anemia and things that, like, can kill you. But it would be very easy to target specific genes that would allow you to be whatever outcome you wanted it to be.”

In addition to those business ventures, Ashton pointed to another aspect of the beauty industry — a company called Essos — which specializes in “global health tourism.” Ashton explained, “Because it costs so much to get these surgeries in the United States that people are traveling abroad and doing them in Turkey. And so, now, they’re going, ‘Wait. Do we need to make sure these doctors are vetted?’ Go to Essos and find a doctor and go get a hair transplant.”
“In 2025, over 2 million Americans will travel abroad for procedures like IVF, plastic surgery, and dental work – relying on risky social media leads and informal networks rather than trusted platforms,” the company claimed on their website. They explained further that the company is tasked with finding vetted healthcare professionals for those who seek treatment outside of their local communities.
The Beauty will premiere in early 2026 on FX.
