An award-winning documentary movie about one of the world’s best known sports car manufacturers is coming to North America. “Story of a Legend. Pininfarina” is set to make its American debut at Toronto’s Italian Contemporary Film Festival on July 10.
A winner of the 2026 Film Impresa Award, the Italian documentary has already performed well in Europe.
Speaking about the documentary’s debut, Pininfarina chairperson Lucia Morselli said:

We are especially proud that this takes place within such a prestigious setting as ICFF in Toronto.

In particular, we feel a special connection with Canada and the city of Toronto, where last May the Pininfarina of America team took part in the ICCO Canada Business Excellence Awards 2026, an occasion during which we showcased our all-electric hypercar Battista Edizione Nino Farina. For those of you who don’t know, Pininfarina is an Italian coachbuilder and car designer that is arguably best known for its decades long collaboration with another iconic Italian vehicle manufacturer — Ferrari. Battista “Pinin” Farina and Enzo Ferrari were close friends, and both of their brands’ legacies are tightly intertwined.
The partnership lasted from 1951 until the 2010s and while not every Ferrari made during that period was a result of the two firms collaborating, Pininfarina was behind the design of what many people are the quintessential Ferraris. The Ferrari 250 GT? Made with Pininfarina. The Ferrari F40? Pininfarina. That weird four-door sedan concept Ferrari made one of was a tribute to Pininfarina founder Battista Farina.
The partnership’s dissolution in 2013 upset a lot of enthusiasts. And to many, a Ferrari without Pininfarina’s involvement isn’t a Ferrari worth owning. The last collaborative effort between the two, the Ferrari F12berlinetta, remained in production until 2017.
Since then, Pininfarina has struck out on its own. Producing a number of other vehicles including the Pininfarina Battista, a staggeringly powerful, $2.5, electric hypercar. It also looks a lot more like a Ferrari than Ferrari’s recent electric effort, because it was built by the company that arguably gave the prancing horse its iconic look through its golden age and beyond.
