Global megastar Bad Bunny concludes his 30-show residency this weekend in Puerto Rico.

The “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” (“I Don’t Want to Leave Here”) shows, which started in July at José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, have generated an estimated $200 million in Puerto Rico.

The rapper and singer, who grew up in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, recently talked about some of the reasons why he decided not to tour in the United States for this run of shows.

(Puerto Rico is a territory of the U.S., but he is referring specifically to the states.)

One of those reasons is the stark reality of dangers posed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate,” Bad Bunny, 31, told i-D Magazine. “I’ve performed there many times. All of (the shows) have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S.

“But specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the U.S. … People from the US could come here to see the show,“ he said. ”Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of — like, f—ing ICE could be outside (my concert). And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

The music giant’s acting career has also been taking off in the U.S.

Bad Bunny, who uses his full name, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, as an actor, stars in the Darren Aronofsky movie “Caught Stealing” with Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Liev Schreiber and more. The film hit theaters in August.

He also filmed “Happy Gilmore 2″ with Adam Sandler in New Jersey.

The Netflix movie, in which Martínez Ocasio plays Happy’s new caddie Oscar Mejias, was released in July.

The “Happy Gilmore” sequel had the largest opening of any Netflix movie in the United States and the largest opening of any Sandler film.
