A royal expert has revealed the surprising Royal Family member who is likely to steer clear of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they return to the UK next month with their children.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel with Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, in July for an Invictus Games event in Birmingham.
It will be the first time Harry, 41, has visited the UK with his family in four years, and King Charles, 77, is reportedly hoping for a reconciliation with his youngest son.
However, the royal expert claims Queen Camilla, 78, will be less keen on reuniting with her stepson and could find an excuse to avoid him.
“The King wants a reconciliation with his son and wants to see his grandchildren,” Phil Dampier told the Daily Mail.
“I think he will want to avoid a public meeting on this trip as it would turn into a circus, but would meet them privately.
“But whether Queen Camilla is keen to meet is another matter.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if she has some family commitment to go to and avoids them.”
Dampier also claimed that “there is no way” Prince William and Kate Middleton will meet up with the Sussexes.
According to the author, Camilla feels “she was badly treated” in Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare.
In the book and promotional interviews, the duke made a series of accusations about Camilla, including that she planted stories about him in the press in order to improve her public image.
He also claimed that he and Prince William “begged” Charles not to marry her, fearing that she would one day become his “wicked stepmother”.
The Royal Family never commented on the claims Harry made in his book.
The last time King Charles saw Archie and Lilibet was during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
It has not been confirmed whether Charles will spend time with his grandchildren during the upcoming visit, but Harry has reportedly told friends that he is “excited” by the prospect of a reunion.
“Harry says he’s coming back before the end of the year with the children with the express intent to reunite with his dad,” the source told the Telegraph.
“He has wanted to have his kids meet their grandfather, especially after their summit in London last year. â While there have been deep-seated trust issues around Harry, there is a sense now that all parties want peace.”
Harry last met with King Charles at Clarence House in September 2025, in their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024.
