LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The fans kept on coming for Saturday night’s Las Vegas Aviators game and by the end of the Triple-A baseball championship game the Aviators announced a sellout crowd of 10,129.
The Aviators — the Triple-A affiliate of the Las Vegas-bound Athletics — may be have been disappointed by the game’s outcome, a dramatic 8-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
But even with light rain at the 7 PM start, the ballpark in Summerlin had energy and passion for a game that Jacksonville won thanks to a walk-off two-run home run by outfielder Jacob Berry. Jacksonville is the AAA affiliate of the Miami Marlins.
The Aviators’ parent team, the A’s, had a table to sign people up for $19.01 to secure a spot to buy season tickets at the new domed stadium on the Strip. The A’s are working with Bally’s Corporation on developing the 35-acre former Tropicana hotel-casino site at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.
Bally’s Las Vegas plans two hotel towers totaling 3,000 rooms, an entertainment venue with seating capacity of 2,500, and more than 500,000 square feet of retail, dining, and entertainment offerings. Bally’s said development will start in the first half of 2026.
The resort will also include a casino and have a pedestrian bridge leading to the ballpark. Marnell Architecture is the architect of record.
“Bally’s Las Vegas represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine the heart of the Strip,” said Soo Kim, Bally’s board chairman.
“With world-class partners like JLL and Marnell, and with the arrival of Major League Baseball, we are not just building an integrated resort,” Kim said in a statement in a media release. “We are creating a landmark destination that unites sports, entertainment, dining and hospitality on a scale only Las Vegas can deliver.”
