Sally Kirkland was rushed to a hospital in Palm Springs, California.
The Golden Globe Award-winning actress, 84, is reportedly in hospice following a year-long struggle with dementia and “life-threatening infections.”
Her friend and former student, Cody Galloway, remains at her bedside, with her representative, Michael Greene, traveling from the East Coast.
Her friends established a GoFundMe to help cover her urgent medical expenses.
Following an introduction acknowledging her tremendous influence on Hollywood, the biography states, “As a result today, she finds herself facing a significant health crisis-one that has not only affected her well-being but also requires urgent and quality medical care that she can no longer afford.”
“As the days pass, lack of proper care greatly diminishes Sally’s chance of a full recovery,” they admitted.
“We are humbly asking for your support, in any amount you can offer, to ensure she gets the treatment she needs at this crucial time in her health journey.”
Her friends hope that the donations will help get the actress “back to doing what she loves most-acting.”
Before making a splash in Hollywood, Sally first made waves in her hometown of New York City, starring in an off-Broadway production in 1963.
It wasn’t until 25 years later that she landed her breakout role in the drama film Anna. Her leading performance earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Since then, she has appeared in several hit projects, including Revenge, Big Stan, and The Sting.
Sally last appeared on the big screen in 2024, when she starred in Sallywood, a movie based on a true story about a writer obsessed with meeting her.
