NEW ORLEANS – Tulane second baseman Connor Rasmussen was picked 458th overall in the 15th round by the Kansas City Royals on Monday afternoon on the second day of the 2025 Major League Draft.

Rasmussen hit .333 with 41 runs, 71 hits, 15 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 45 RBIs, a .484 slugging percentage and a .427 on-base percentage as a junior in 2025. He was one of only two players on the team to start all 58 games this season. Rasmussen led the team in hits, RBIs, multiple hit games (23), multiple RBI contests (11) and total bases (103). He ranked second in doubles, on-base percentage and walks (30). He also fielded at a .991 clip while manning second base. Rasmussen was a First Team All-AAC selection.

In his two years at Tulane after transferring from East Carolina, Rasmussen hit .310 with 141 hits, 92 runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 96 RBIs, 71 walks and 10 stolen bases.

He is the third Tulane player selected in the 2025 draft following Michael Lombardi, who was chosen in the second round (61st pick) by the Kansas City Royals, and Tayler Montiel, who was selected in the 12th round (363rd pick) by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Overall, he is the 138th player that Tulane has had drafted in the program’s long and storied history. The program has now seen seven players selected over the last two seasons. The three selections this season is the third time in the last five years that Tulane has had three or more players selected in a single draft and the 25th time since 1965. This is the first time that Tulane has had multiple players selected by the same team in a draft since 2021 and the 11th time in school history.

Rasmussen is the eighth Tulane player ever selected by the Kansas City Royals following catcher Jim Gaudet (1976), pitcher Frank Wills (1980), second baseman John Zelenka (1983), pitcher Alex Massey (2016), third baseman Koedy Hoese (2018), pitcher Jack Aldrich (2021) and pitcher Michael Lombardi (2025).

Tulane went 33-25 in 2025 plus reached the AAC Championship Game for the third straight season. The program had five All-AAC selections on the year in Lombardi (P – 1st), Rasmussen (2B – 1st), Gavin Schulz (DH – 2nd), Jason Wachs (All-Freshman) and Tanner Chun (All-Freshman). The team also had three chosen for the AAC’s All-Tournament Team in Schulz, Montiel and Theo Bryant IV.
