Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie might want to break from their royal ties.
After Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly giving Jeffrey Epstein information while he was the U.K.’s trade envoy, the sisters were warned to give up their titles.
“I don’t think either of them has ever flaunted their titles, but there’s obviously a huge cachet in some circles about being called a Princess,” expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror.

“A title like that opens doors and sets up connections, which both Beatrice and Eugenie have used to their advantage,” the commentator pointed out.
Not only has the former Duke of York been stripped of his titles and removed from Royal Lodge, butSarah Ferguson has also reportedly been banished from The Firm due to her own ties to the late criminal.
“There’s nothing wrong in that, but now that their father has been stripped of his titles and their mother can no longer use hers, they might like to quietly drop the use of theirs,” Bond suggested of Beatrice and Eugenie.
“I don’t see the need for them to renounce them publicly, but it might be prudent to sever links with the York name — now so very tarnished —and just use their married names,” she added. Beatrice wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, while Eugenie tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank in 2018.

Although the public might want King Charles III to take action against his nieces, the journalist doesn’t believe that’s likely to happen.
“I can’t see the King stripping them of their titles — unless they become implicated in some sort of abuse of their status, of which there is no evidence at present,” Bond said.
“But this is a difficult time for both women and they might do well to keep their heads down and get on with their jobs and family lives,” she noted.
According to the Daily Telegraph’s executive editor Camilla Tominey, as more information is released about the family’s connection to Epstein, the siblings could face more pressure to step away from the royal family. “The York sisters’ stuff is going to get a lot worse,” she said during an appearance on the “Daily T” podcast.
“They’ve escaped a lot of the scrutiny, but there’s a lot of information on them and their associations with Epstein, along with their parents,” Tominey said.
Royal editor Hannah Furness claimed Beatrice and Eugenie could have a closer connection to the financier than originally thought. “There does seem to be this rumbling idea that there is more to discover,” she claimed via Daily Express.
“That seems to have gone a little bit quiet in the last few weeks,” Furness noted. “I’m not sure the girls feel as supported as they did by the Palace.”
