Bella Hadid in hospital for treatment of Lyme disease

Bella Hadid alarmed her fans after she shared an eye-opening update from inside a hospital where she is receiving treatment for Lyme disease.

The 28-year-old American model took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a series of photos that served as a life update for her 61 million fans.

“I’m sorry, I always go MIA. I love you guys,” she said in the caption.

In one of the photos, she can be seen attached to an IV and an oxygen mask as she lies in bed.

In another, she is back in her hospital bed with a bag of ice placed on her forehead .

She also shared a selfie in which her face is red and puffy as if she had just been crying.

A distressing photo showed the model sitting on the floor of an elevator, seemingly keeled over in pain.

However, the social media update wasn’t all doom and gloom, with Hadid sharing some happy snaps of flowers, a rainbow, playing a card game and pretty views of the sky from her hospital room window.

It comes as Hadid has been living with Lyme disease, a tick-bite-associated illness found in the UK, US and Asia, for more than a decade.

Her sister and fellow model, Gigi Hadid, was quick to comment with a message of support.

“I love you! I hope you feel as strong and good as u deserve, soon!!!!!!” she said.

Her mum, Yolanda Hadid, also commented, calling her daughter a “Lyme warrior”.

Friends and fans also showed their love for the star, encouraging her to “stay strong” and “take care and heal”.

While Hadid didn’t mention anything about Lyme in her recent post, she opened up about her health in 2023.

She wrote a message on Instagram where she said she’s “finally healthy” after more than 10 years of health struggles, including what she claimed was “100+ days of Lyme, chronic disease, (co-infection) treatment”.

“The little me that suffered would be so proud of grown me for not giving up on myself,” Hadid said in the post, before thanking her mother for her support.

“Living in this state, worsening with time and work while trying to make myself, my family and the people who support me, proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can’t really explain.

“To be that sad and sick with the most blessings/privilege/opportunity/love around me was quite possibly the most confusing thing ever.”
