Fans are sending prayers and well-wishes Pauly Shore’s way after the beloved comedian who rose to fame in the 1990s shared an emotional video from his hospital bed on Wednesday.
“What’s up guys,” Shore said in the video. “So, here we are. What am I doing? Am I getting my tonsils out? Am I getting some breast implants?
“No actually.”
Shore was able to share a little laugh with the jokes, but then he got into the situation.
“About two months ago, I went and did a preventative scan on my body head-to-toe,” he said. “Because that’s what you are supposed to do, and they found a small tumor inside my pancreas. So, I’ve been dealing with it the past couple months.
“We are here at Cedar-Sinai, and they are going to be taking it out,” he continued. “We’re gonna get rid of it. It’s like a Devil that’s in me.”
The video then cut to five days post-surgery with Shore back at Cedars-Sinai.
“They took the little Gremlin out of me,” he said. “Whew! Man. It’s been about five days since the procedure. It was successful, thank you. The doctors here, the squad took care of the little gremlin as my brother Scott said, and I’m OK. Now, it’s healing time, and that’s it. But, yeah, my advice to anyone watching this is to get a scan because you never know what the (expletive) is inside your body. Because I didn’t know. I just did a preventative scan because I was bored, and I just wanted to do a checkup, and they found a little tumor inside my pancreas, and they scooped it out.”
Shore then shared some great news.
“It’s benign,” he said. “I guess benign means it’s not cancerous. It’s gone for good, which is a great word obviously. That’s everybody’s biggest fear.
“I’d like to thank God, but I’d also like to thank my instincts,” he added. “Instincts in life is very important guys. You always gotta go with your instincts. My instincts was just to get a scan and see what was going on inside my body, and they found this little guy, and we got rid of him.”
That’s when Shore dropped his head and began to cry. He took his sunglasses off, covered his mouth, and gathered himself before finally speaking again.
“It’s been tough,” he said. “It’s been tough. The aftermath of surgery, of an abdomen surgery, it’s pretty (expletive) hard.
“It’s been a lot,” he added. “It’s been a lot.”
Shore also wrote a long caption alongside the video in which he provided more details and again encouraged everyone to consider a preventative scan.
His fans and friends were quick to respond with relief that he was fine, and with loving messages. Perhaps most important, some said he inspired them to go and get checked.
