Manitowoc July 3 Celebration brings music, food trucks and riverfront fun

These annual festivities coincide with the start of SubFest at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and Manitowoc’s multiday Fourth on the Shore Independence Day festivities.

The July 3 Celebration will take place on the city’s riverfront at the Farmers’ Market lot, 720 Quay St., near The Wharf.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. July 3, and music starts at 6 p.m. Live performances will feature regional acts Road Trip and Smoke Road.

Dozens of food trucks and refreshment stations will be set up along the riverfront. A portion of refreshment sales at the main July 3 event will benefit Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure, which supports families affected by cancer.

Admission is free, but carry-ins are not permitted. Large bags and backpacks are not allowed. Lawn chairs are permitted and encouraged in designated areas.

Free Concerts in the Park and Manitowoc Marine Band dates to know

Since 1898, the Manitowoc Marine Band has brought together area musicians ranging from high school students to retirees, including amateurs and professionals. Each year, those collaborations culminate in a series of free local concerts.

A Blues n’ Brews “fun-raising” event is set for 2 to 5:30 p.m. June 28 at Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St. This 21-and-older event in the Grand Lobby pairs live blues music with local craft beer and BBQ-style appetizers to support arts programming.

Grammy-winning keyboardist Dennis Wage leads the band with E.G. McDaniel, Craig Panosh, Jim Schwartz and Alex Wilson. Admission includes food and three drink tickets, plus raffle opportunities.

Acoustic “Summer Nights” 26 with Sidewalk Prophets is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, 6751 Calumet Ave. Join Sidewalk Prophets for an intimate evening of music, stories and hope.
