The Palos Heights City Council granted approval for a new beauty business to come into the city and for Westgate Music School to relocate to a more central location.
The spa, which has not publicly revealed a name yet, was granted a special use permit for the property located at 7480 W. College Drive Suite 101, located in the same building as Palos Dental Group between College Drive and Lake Katherine.
The permit will allow for an esthetician’s business to operate in the space, offering services including esthetics, manicures and pedicures, facials, waxing, and body treatments.
The business would be completely new to the Palos Heights community and the permit was granted by a unanimous vote from the city council.
The City Council also approved a special use permit which will allow for an existing business to locate to new premises.
Westgate Music School, which is currently located at 6527 W. 127th Street in the Indian Trails shopping center, requested a special use permit to relocate to 12201 S. Harlem Avenue, Unit 2W, in the city’s downtown area.
The music school would continue its operations offering private and group lessons for piano, voice, drum, guitar, and other string instruments as well as providing instrument rentals, as it has in the community since 2015.
The business says it is choosing to relocate due to a conflict with its landlord.
The special use permit for the new space was approved unanimously, and the business owner David Kohut says the plan is to open in the new space on August 1.
