Dutton Ranch has been renewed for a season 2.
The Yellowstone spinoff follows the continued adventures of Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser).
The series recently parted ways with creator Chad Feehan.
Dutton Ranch isn’t closing anytime soon.
On Wednesday, Paramount+ announced a season 2 renewal for the Yellowstone sequel series, which debuted last month to record-breaking ratings.
Dutton Ranch was the most anticipated show to arrive in the ever-expanding world of Yellowstone, given its focus on Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), whose relationship became the heart of the flagship property.
“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world,” Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, said in a statement. “We’re also incredibly grateful to our partners, including the teams at Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, for bringing this new series to life with such grit, heart, and authenticity.”

Ed Harris and Annette Bening star alongside Hauser and Reilly in Dutton Ranch. Series creator Chad Feehan will not return for season 2, however. Weeks before the show debuted, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Feehan would not be back should there be a renewal.
Sources told Puck, which first reported Feehan’s exit, that the creator “clashed on set” with Hauser and Reilly, who are also executive producers on the project. Additionally, Puck insiders shared that Yellowstone mastermind and overseer Taylor Sheridan wasn’t happy with Feehan’s work on season 1. Feehan previously collaborated with Sheridan and Paramount on the David Oyelowo-led series Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
“I think Chad did an exceptional job building a world of adversaries for Rip and Beth to come up against in this new chapter of their lives,” Dutton Ranch director and producer Christina Alexandra Voros recently said. “Any speculation about a season 2 is beyond my knowledge. And I’m grateful to him and his team for creating a world for these characters to move into.”

Dutton Ranch‘s season 2 order comes after the same was given to fellow Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, which focuses on Beth’s brother Kayce (Luke Grimes). Could a crossover be on the horizon?
“I think both shows are sort of forging their own paths right now,” Marshals showrunner Spencer Hudnut previously told EW. “The shows kind of exist in the same universe. If Kayce, Rip, and Beth reunited at some point, I’m sure everybody would like it. It’s one of those things where we’ll see what happens down the road.”
The Dutton Ranch season 1 finale premieres July 3 on Paramount+.
