The legendary musician made a huge shoutout to his longtime guitarist, Mike DelGuidice.
On Thursday, the “Piano Man” hitmaker shared a proud moment ahead of his band member’s upcoming show.
Alongside a photo of DelGuidice, he teased fans by hinting at some “exciting news.”
“We’re proud to announce that Mike DelGuidice will be performing the U.S. National Anthem at the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, Farmingdale, NY,” he revealed.
Moreover, the six-time Grammy winner highlighted his band member’s achievements not just on the concert stage but also at sports events.
Now, he is set to perform at the highly anticipated Ryder Cup.
“Mike has already performed the anthem for some of the biggest stages in sports, from the New York Knicks, Jets, Rangers and the Philadelphia Phillies, and now he’ll bring his powerful voice to golf’s most prestigious international event,” Joel added.
Lastly, the award-winning singer assured fans that this will be a “truly unforgettable moment.”
The upcoming event is a biennial men’s golf competition between teams from the United States and Europe.
The opening ceremony of the 2025 Ryder Cup will be held on Sept. 25. Viewers can watch live coverage of the tournament on NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock. Meanwhile, the tournament proper will run from Sept. 26-28.
On the other hand, Joel’s Instagram post was flooded with fans expressing their enthusiasm for DelGuidice’s upcoming performance.
“He has a big, bright future ahead. Fantastic voice!” one wrote.

The “Uptown Girl” singer was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition that involves a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain.
Months after the announcement, his daughter Alexa Ray Joel reassured fans that he is still sharp as ever, noting that he doesn’t experience any cognitive difficulties.
“It’s funny because people were concerned about cognitive decline,” the 39-year-old told Fox News, adding, “I don’t see any of that from him. I really, really don’t.”
Joel’s daughter also said that her dad is undergoing “physical therapy three to five days a week.”
