Lithuanian avant-garde metal outfit Black Spikes have premiered a new music video for “Zelvar,” the latest single from their upcoming album ‘Ydos.’
The track arrives alongside a visually ambitious new video and continues the band’s rollout for the record, which is scheduled for release on August 28 through Napalm Records.
According to the band, “Zelvar” explores the destructive nature of greed through the story of a demonic figure who preys upon humanity’s endless pursuit of wealth, power, and status.
“This song tells the story of Zelvar, the demon of greed, as he steps into the human world. Within a magnificent palace, those consumed by endless ambition gather, chasing ever greater wealth, power, and status. Yet the more they gain, the deeper they fall into his trap—thirsty, and forever unsatisfied.”
The band continued:
“Greed is a vice that leaves the soul imprisoned and alone the moment you ‘close your eyes’ and surrender to its temptation. No matter how much you possess, it will never be enough.”
“Zelvar” serves as another preview of ‘Ydos,’ which will mark the latest full-length offering from the rising Lithuanian metal act when it arrives later this summer via Napalm Records.
