On Thursday, BLACKPINK fans around the world are lighting up social media in celebration of the group’s ninth anniversary.
The K-pop girl group made their debut on Aug. 8, 2016, in South Korea. Since then, BLACKPINK has become one of the most influential and groundbreaking acts of all time. Formed by YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK consists of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. The group quickly rose to fame with their hits “Boombayah” and “Kill This Love.”
A lot of their music blends the genres of pop, rap, hip-hop, EDM and R&B, which appeals to their very diverse audience. The group has broken numerous records, including being the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, having multiple music videos with hundreds of millions of views and charting high on Billboard’s U.S. albums list multiple times. Plus, their social media followings rank among the biggest worldwide for any music act.
After taking a brief hiatus as a group in September 2023 to focus on solo projects, BLACKPINK is finally back in your area. Currently, they have been embarking on their Deadline World Tour and released their first song in two years, “JUMP,” last month.
With all they’ve achieved, it’s no surprise that Blinks everywhere are coming together to celebrate BLACKPINK’s ninth anniversary on social media.

“9 years of being in our area and we’re still not tired! 💖,” a fan commented.

Sending yall so much love 🫶🏻,” wrote @blckpinkpic on X, a fan account dedicated to BLACKPINK with over 300k followers.
@BBU_BLACKPINK, an X fan account dedicated to the girls with more than 750k followers, posted, “It’s been 9 years, and you’ve truly become a part of our lives. We’ve witnessed your growth as an artists to be the BIGGEST GIRL GROUP and GLOBAL SUPERSTAR. The FOUR of you have come so far and there’s still an even brighter future ahead. Always and FOURever.”

The next stop for BLACKPINK on the Deadline World Tour is the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona on Saturday.
