Bleecker Street continues to make inroads into the genre space and alongside LD Entertainment has acquired US rights to Anton Corbijn’s thriller A Talent For Murder starring Helen Mirren as the novelist Patricia Highsmith.
Tony Award winner Alden Ehrenreich and Olivia Cooke round out the key cast on the story about a young literary agent from New York who is sent to Switzerland to persuade Highsmith to write one final instalment in her celebrated Ripley anthology.
Corbijn directed from Australian playwright, screenwriter, and novelist Joanna Murray-Smith’s adapted screenplay based on her 2014 play Switzerland. Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment will release A Talent For Murder theatrically nationwide in autumn.
Magnolia Mae’s Gabrielle Tana and LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon serve as producers on the film alongside Brouhaha’s Troy Lum and Andrew Mason, Jim Robison and Kurt Martin for Lunar Pictures, Carolyn Marks Blackwood for Magnolia Mae Films, Karl Spoerri of Switzerland’s Zurich Avenue, and Andrea Occhipinti for Italy’s Lucky Red.
Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology, and LD Entertainment co-finance the project and FilmNation Entertainment handles international sales and showed footage at its buyers presentation in Cannes last month. Avy Eschenasy of Bleecker Street and LD’s Michael Glassman negotiated the deal with CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.
Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment previously collaborated on Bone Lake, I.S.S., Teen Spirit, Megan Leavey, and Anthropoid.
Bleecker Street’s latest genre title follows Zachary Wigon’s well-received Un Certain Regard selection Victorian Psycho starring Maika Monroe and Jason Isaacs and opens on September 25; Guy Nattiv’s upcoming cult thriller Harmonia starring Carrie Coon, Bella Ramsey, Odessa Young, and Lily James; and the recent acquisition of James Ashcroft’s horror When Darkness Loves Us with Emilia Clarke that will open in 2027. The company releases Adam Shankman’s Stop! That! Train! starring RuPaul on June 12.
Among LD Entertainment’s feature credits are Judy, Jackie, and Biutiful, as well as the upcoming Elsinore starring Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman, and The Custom Of The Country with Sydney Sweeney and Leo Woodall.
