The first update of fan voting for the 2026 American League All-Star Game is in, and while the Royals are enduring a disappointing season on the field, Kansas City fans are still making their voices heard.
Leading the way for the Royals is shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., who sits atop the American League shortstop race with 890,575 votes. Witt holds a commanding lead over Toronto’s Andrés Giménez (354,651 votes) and appears well-positioned to advance to the next phase of voting. After making his first two All-Star teams in 2024 and 2025, Witt is on track for what would be his third consecutive All-Star appearance, although he is looking for his first starting nod. Bobby leads all position players in fWAR (4.0) and is hitting .287/.358/.455 with 9 homers and 26 steals in 72 games.
The only other Royals among the leaders in voting are Salvador Perez, who is seventh among catchers, and Maikel Garcia, who is seventh among third basemen. Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez leads all American League vote-getters, while Shohei Ohtani leads National League vote-getters.
Fans can continue voting in the first phase at royals.com/allstar, up to five times per day.
Voting will take place in two phases. During the first phase, one nominated player from each club at every position will appear on the ballot. At the conclusion of the first phase on June 25, the top overall vote-getter in both the American League and National League will automatically earn a starting roster spot at their position. For all remaining positions, the top two vote-getters at each infield position and the top six outfielders will advance to Phase 2 of voting which begins Monday, June 29. Full All-Star rosters will be revealed on FOX on July 4 for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, to be held Tuesday, July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
