Aug. 29 (UPI) — Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho will serve as jury president at the 2025 Marrakech International Film Festival.
The 22nd annual festival will take place Nov. 28 to Dec. 6 in Marrakesh, Morocco. The grand prize is known as the Étoile d’Or.
Bong, 55, is known for such films as The Host, Snowpiercer and Okja. His 2019 feature, Parasite, won three Oscars, including Best Picture, and was awarded the Palm d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival that year.
“For many years, Marrakech has been a champion of fresh, beautiful films. I’m delighted and honored to be part of that tradition. I look forward to sharing a powerful cinematic experience with the festival audience and reflecting on the true value of ‘cinema.’ Our anticipation and excitement will be palpable in front of the big screens of Marrakech,” Bong said in a press release Friday.
Bong’s most recent film, the sci-fi dark comedy Mickey 17, stars Robert Pattinson and opened in theaters in March.
