Britney Spears is threatening legal action against a former bodyguard after accusing him of accessing her personal devices and iCloud account without permission.

According to a cease-and-desist letter sent by Spears’ attorney last month, and obtained by TMZ, former employee Thomas Bunbury is accused of gaining entry to the singer’s electronic devices and Apple iCloud account after his employment ended. The letter alleges that Bunbury accessed Spears’ private information without her consent and warns that the conduct may violate both state and federal law.

Spears’ legal team is demanding that Bunbury stop accessing any of her accounts or devices, delete any material he may have copied, and disclose whether any of her personal files, photos, or documents were shared with anyone else.

The letter also states that Spears is prepared to involve law enforcement and pursue criminal charges if necessary.

The dispute appears to stem from Bunbury’s departure from Spears’ team last summer. The former bodyguard was dismissed in August after allegedly violating a nondisclosure agreement by communicating with members of the media and with Spears fans. The alleged account intrusions reportedly began after he was fired.

Spears also experienced repeated issues accessing her accounts in the months that followed and was temporarily locked out several times. The singer’s legal team now believes those problems may be connected to the alleged unauthorized access.

The new allegations add another chapter to an already difficult period for Spears. Earlier this month, the singer made headlines after being arrested on suspicion of DUI in California. Spears was later released, and her representatives said she would cooperate fully with the legal process.

In the aftermath of that incident, ex-husband Sam Asghari publicly defended Spears and urged people to give her privacy, saying that “everybody makes mistakes.”

Spears has also spent much of the last several years speaking publicly about issues of control, privacy, and access to her personal life following the end of her conservatorship in 2021. The legal arrangement, which lasted more than a decade, gave others authority over many aspects of her finances and day-to-day decisions.
