Britney Spears has admitted she is “scared” to see how “angry” Kevin Federline is as she continues to speak out against her ex-husband, having accused him of “gaslighting” her.
The Oops!…I Did It Again hitmaker shared a lengthy message on X in which she accused her ex of trying to “profit from [her] pain” with his new memoir.
Federline, 47, has made a slew of explosive claims about the star in his book You Thought You Knew – and ahead of the memoir’s release on October 21, Britney, 43, lashed out at her ex’s “constant gaslighting.”
On Thursday, Britney wrote on X that Federline has been sharing false and harmful rumors about her in interviews to promote his memoir. She posted, “Why is HE SO ANGRY … and what’s scary is he’s convincing.
“It literally blows my mind the moments he stops before he cries are you f—–g serious.”
Britney also compared her former relationship with Federline to the toxic ones she had with her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears.
She added, “As my mother cleverly says, ‘Oh you’re angry, we just love you so much and wish you were here’ … I’m like, WHAT? You called me one time in 6 years and why didn’t you invite me to my son’s bday in Louisiana in my home for 2 weeks?
“They get entitled with special secrets as they treat me exactly the way my father used to… yes, they secretly love to cast me out and make me feel completely isolated.”
Federline, who was married to the pop star from 2004 until their 2007 divorce, suggests in his book that Britney’s “situation feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible” following the end of her controversial 13-year conservatorship in 2021.
When asked about what’s happening in Britney’s life, he told The Hollywood Reporter, “I think that if anybody’s paying attention that they can kind of see for themselves. All I really want is for her to be happy and healthy, and I want her to be around for our kids.
“My kids want her to be around for a long time. So I’ve sounded the alarm. It’s become a situation that I need people to start supporting my sons and their mother.”
But Britney accused Federline of “gaslighting” as she said, “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys.
“Relationships with teenage boys are complex. I have felt demoralised by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.
“Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by their own father for me.
“They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.”
