David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly been blocked on social media by their eldest son, Brooklyn, signalling an ongoing family rift ahead of Christmas. This move indicates that the former footballer and his wife are no longer in regular contact with Brooklyn, 26, or his wife, Nicola Peltz, 31.
Cruz, 20, the youngest of the Beckham sons, addressed this situation in a story he posted on his Instagram page. This comes months after both he and Romeo were seen no longer following Brooklyn and Nicola on the platform. Cruz has claimed that this change is also due to his older brother blocking him.
Cruz shared a screenshot of a newspaper article suggesting that Victoria and David had unfollowed Brooklyn, and typed: “NOT TRUE, my mum and dad would not unfollow their son…let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked, as did I.”
Festive plans appear to be adding further distance. Nicola, 30, has hinted she and Brooklyn will spend Christmas Day in the US with her family, rather than joining the Beckhams in the UK.
On Friday, she posted a photo showing Brooklyn with her brother Bradley Peltz at the family’s £76million Palm Beach mansion, reinforcing speculation that the couple will remain stateside over the holidays.
Brooklyn and Nicola have also missed several major Beckham family milestones this year, including celebrations surrounding David’s knighthood and his 50th birthday. In contrast, David and Victoria, both 51, were not present when the couple renewed their wedding vows in New York in August.
The last time Brooklyn was publicly pictured with his parents was on Boxing Day last year. At the time, Victoria shared a family photograph that included David, their sons, daughter Harper, now 14, and Nicola, writing that being together over the holidays made her “so happy”.
Despite the ongoing strain, Victoria is said to be hoping Brooklyn will at least make contact with his grandparents, Jackie and Tony Adams, over Christmas.
A source told The Sun: “They were incredibly close. Even if nothing else is resolved, Victoria just wants Brooklyn to remember them during the holidays.”
