For Jersey Shore rock superstars, Tuesday was a big day for video shoots.
While Rumson-based Jon Bon Jovi and the band bearing his name taped a performance of “Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night” for British TV, Freehold native Bruce Springsteen was filming a live-action video of his new single, “Murder Incorporated,” at Tramps nightclub in New York City.

Performing with his classic backing unit, the E Street Band, for the first time since 1988, Springsteen presented an extended set, including classics like “Prove It All Night,” “Spirit in the Night,” “Cadillac Ranch” and “Darkness on the Edge of Town” — none of which appear on his upcoming “Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits” CD, scheduled for release next Tuesday.
The band, appearing Feb. 14, included every member of the E Street Band’s two most popular incarnations: drummer Max Weinberg, saxophone player Clarence Clemons, keyboardists Roy Bittan and Danny Federici, guitarists Steve Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren, background vocalist Patti Scialfa (also known as Mrs. Springsteen) and bassist Garry Tallent .
Though the group also recorded two new songs for the “Greatest Hits” CD, representatives for Springsteen continued to insist the group had no current plans to tour or play future engagements — despite rumors about possible appearances on CBS-TV’s “Late Show with David Letterman” and Wednesday’s Grammy awards telecast.
Springsteen (himself nominated for five awards) is expected to perform his Oscar-winning song “Streets of Philadelphia” on the Grammy show, but a spokesman for the singer would not say if the appearance would include Bittan and Weinberg, who helped play the tune at last year’s MTV Music Video Awards.
