Hollywood movies are big business, and the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” is no different.
Filmmakers spent an estimated $41,832,221 over 31 days of filming in New Jersy late last year and into January, according to the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission. Location fees paid to state municipalities totaled $2,168,155; lodging fees were $552,775; food costs were $429,648; extras were paid $1,765,402; set construction was $1,816,772; and $2.2 million was spent on wardrobes.
“It’s fairly typical,” said Jon Crowley, executive director of the NJMPTC. “It did 31 days of shooting and made about 500 hires, so that’s crew and extras and things like.”
“Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” about the making of the Boss’ 1982 lo-fi classic “Nebraska” album, stars Jeremy Allen White from TV’s “The Bear” as Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as Springsteen manager Jon Landau. Disney’s 20th Century Studios is releasing it into movie theaters on Friday, Oct. 24.
