Two worlds collided as BTS member J-Hope vibed to Taylor Swift’s song in a viral video. Recently, a short clip of the “Butter” hitmaker trying to sing along to the chorus of the track, “The Fate of Ophelia,” has caught attention. In it, the K-pop boy band singer initially seems shy to attempt the hit song. Soon, he gets a hold of the rhythm and lip-syncs the lyrics.
For those unversed, both pop sensations have entered the Billboard charts this year. Swift’s songs from her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” ruled the list after its release in October. Meanwhile, J-Hope’s solo track “Killin’ It Girl (feat. GloRilla)” took over the month of July.
J-Hope vibes to Taylor Swift’s ‘The Fate of Ophelia’
Taylor Swift and BTS’s J-Hope (or Jung Ho-Seok) are global pop stars coming from two different cultures. Despite a language barrier, music has united them. Recently, a video went viral featuring the K-pop idol singing the 36-year-old’s latest hit, “The Fate of Ophelia,” from her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
In the clip, J-Hope wears a black jacket with wide blue and red strips on both sides of the shoulders, respectively. Wearing a cap with fringes falling over his forehead and eyes, he leans towards a table as he places his folded hands on it. Donning his signature sunshine smile, J-Hope says, “give up,” while looking down. But, immediately, he corrects himself and tells his fans, “No! Don’t give up!”
While interacting with his followers, Swift’s song plays in the background. He smiles as he listens to the track and waits for the chorus. J-Hope tries to grab the lyrics but fails. However, he gets hold of the rhythm and hums “The Fate of Ophelia” perfectly.
In 2018, BTS Army (fan name) and Swifties were overjoyed when the “Lover” hitmaker posted a photo with the K-pop boy band. The seven members met many Hollywood artists at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), and one of them was Swift. She happily posed with the Bangtan boys and shared it on her Instagram.
