The actress recently noted that the WB show’s creator Kevin Williamson apologized at the September cast reunion for writing her out of the 2003 series finale after she joined the drama in the penultimate fifth season.
“What I heard at the time was Kevin was like, ‘I don’t know this character. I didn’t create her, so she’s not going to be in the finale,’” she said on the Pod Meets World podcast, noting that Williamson returned to write the two-hour finale after leaving the show ahead of Season 3.
“It was a thing that really hurt my feelings and I felt like I had given two seasons of my life to this show,” explained Philipps. “People really loved my character. I really gave up a big part of my life to be in Wilmington.
